Chiang Mai trek at Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail

Trek in Doi Inthanon at Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail

A journey to the top of Doi Inthanon covers a space of 101.7 kms by road from the capital of Chiangmai. Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail is close to Chedi Phra Mahathat Nop Metaneedol. Kew Mae Pan has car park area enough for fifty cars each time, shops, eating houses, memento stores and toilets for all vacationers.
Kiew Mae Pan starts from Km. 42 of Doi Inthanon National Park. This short trail, zigzag through primal rainforest for approx two.5 kms., a 3 hour walk, allows the hiker to face the natural beauty of the wild at first hand. The Rhododendrons, commonly discover in the Himalayas, are found alongside the trail and they are in full bloom during December-February.

Trekking through the nature of the vardant rainforest over the top of the highest peak of Thailand, Doi Inthanon. Visit flora and fauna and rare plants on the trek path. Overlook the panoramic view from the open area that you can see mountains curtain all around. Kew means narrow path, and this one snakes along a towering mountain range which is house to great variety of plants and animals. The 2.78km-long trail takes you through a virgin forest crowded with biodiversity. All 21 stations offer detailed explanations around the plants and ecosystems, whether it be ferns from ancient times, Himalayan flora species, dense cloud wild or grassland. Absorb more oxygen from thin air, Slow climbing, by the way, allows me to see the natural speculate on the path to Mae Pan Falls. Trees grow as high as 40m to get light while the cloud regularly hits the mountain and soaks the whole rain forest with high damp. Moss and little ferns cover all tree trunks. When cloud hits the rain forest, covering the whole with mist, they all seem to be quivering under verdurous blankets. The most beautiful perspective is a semi-alpine heather that sits side by side with the jungle, but on the other side of the slope. The grass is the result of severe deforestation from the past. Strong winds hinder young plants from growing here.
If you only do one trek in Doi Inthanon, then the three km Kew Mae Pan trail is the one you have to do. You have to pay extra for the privilege - it’s 200 baht per group to hire a guide for the trail, which isn’t optional.
